I am a Haitian American figurative oil painter and muralist in New York City. Born in Nyack, New York, I explore themes of identity, resilience, and empowerment within Black and Brown communities. Through expressive portraits layered with bright, textured backgrounds, I use bold colors to convey joy and strength while celebrating the beauty and humanity of my subjects.
I blend classical realism with illustration, working primarily with oil paint and pigment. I use cold wax to build texture and depth in the backgrounds of my paintings, creating a rich surface that contrasts with the detail in my portraits. Bees are a recurring motif, symbolizing community, perseverance, and the fight against cultural erasure. Fashion also plays a vital role in my practice, as it is used as a form of visual activism and self-expression to challenge narratives and amplify identity.
Art gifts me the ability to cross generational, racial, and cultural boundaries around the world. My work is about sharing positive stories and presenting multifaceted views of Black and Brown communities—highlighting joy, everyday experiences, and the strength of shared history. I am driven by the desire to see paintings that reflect these stories in museums and cultural spaces. Each portrait is a powerful statement of visibility and celebration, ensuring these voices are seen, remembered, and honored.
